Our History
Trusted “helpers” for over twenty-five years, CityHope of New Hampshire got its start through the Helping and Healing Ministry at CenterPoint Church in Concord, New Hampshire. As the need for supportive services to vulnerable populations of Concord and surrounding communities grew beyond the scope of CenterPoint’s missional provision, church staff and elders created CityHope. We are a non-profit organization on mission to serve the whole person. CityHope “walks with” individuals and families, empowering and equipping them with the necessary resources and skills needed to thrive in their communities. CityHope builds transformational relationships, promoting lasting change and dignity for everyone.
“There have been numerous changes to how we help those in need over the past eight years. Through the lens of When Helping Hurts, by Corbett, S. and Fikkert, B., published by Moody Publishing, Chicago, IL., we discovered that the most important thing we can do for those coming to us for help is to develop a relationship with them. We recognized the need to move from a transactional hand-out to a relational hand-up. Letting those we work with know we see them, hear them and we want to know them. This allows us to build a bridge between where they are and where they want to be.”
